Playgroup Participation Waiver

We’re pleased to welcome your child to our playgroups, where exploration, creativity and movement are encouraged. To help ensure a safe, positive experience for everyone, we ask parents and guardians to read and agree to the following Participation Waiver.

​This waiver covers all Mini Learners HK playgroup sessions, whether held in hired indoor venues (e.g. clubhouses, community rooms, sports centres) or outdoor public spaces.

Supervision & Responsibility

Playgroups are intended for children aged 6 months to 4 years.

A parent or supervising adult (including a domestic helper) must stay with the child for the entire session.

By attending you agree that:

• • You are responsible for actively supervising your child at all times.

  • Mini Learners HK staff provide guidance and facilitation but do not offer one-to-one supervision or childcare.

  • You will step in when needed to support your child’s safety, behaviour and participation.​

Nature of Activities

• Sessions include a variety of sensory, creative, physical and exploratory activities designed for early childhood development.

• Examples of activities (not exhaustive):

  • Hands-on sensory exploration

  • Process-focused art and craft

  • Loose-parts and open-ended play

  • Movement, balance and physical play

  • Food-based or taste-safe materials

  • Outdoor and nature-based experiences

• Activities will vary by session and location and are intentionally open-ended to promote curiosity and creative development.
   

Assumption of Risk

• Play and exploration carry inherent and foreseeable risks typical for young children, which may include:

  • Wet, slippery or uneven surfaces

  • Contact with natural or food-based materials

  • Staining or soiling of clothing and belongings

  • Interaction with small or loose objects

  • Physical movement such as climbing, balancing or outdoor play

  • Minor bumps, slips, falls or scrapes

• By attending, you acknowledge these risks and agree to actively supervise your child throughout the session.

Allergies, Sensitivities & Health Information

• Some sessions may use food-based, scented or tactile materials.

• By booking, you agree to:

  • Disclose any allergies, sensitivities or relevant health conditions when confirming your booking.

  • Understand that Mini Learners HK relies on the accuracy of the information you provide.

  • Accept that Mini Learners HK cannot be held responsible for incidents arising from undisclosed allergies or conditions.

• Once informed, staff will take reasonable precautions to support safe participation.

First Aid & Emergency Care

• For minor injuries:

  • The supervising adult is primarily responsible for attending to the child.

  • Mini Learners HK staff may provide basic first-aid supplies (e.g. plasters, ice packs).

  • Staff do not administer medical treatment.

• In a serious or time-critical emergency (for example, severe allergic reaction or loss of consciousness), you authorise Mini Learners HK staff to:

  • Call emergency services.

  • Provide basic first aid until professional help arrives.

• You agree not to hold Mini Learners HK liable for reasonable, good-faith emergency actions taken to protect your child.​

Personal Belongings

• You understand that:

  • Activities can be messy.

  • Clothing, footwear and personal items may become wet, stained or damaged.

  • You are responsible for your child’s belongings during sessions.

Release of Liability

• To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Mini Learners HK, its staff, instructors, assistants and affiliates from liability for:

  • Injuries arising from the inherent risks of early childhood play.

  • Incidents resulting from lack of supervision by the attending adult.

  • Reactions related to undisclosed allergies or sensitivities.

  • Loss or damage to personal property.

• This waiver does not exclude liability for proven gross negligence.​

Session Duration

• Standard playgroup sessions are 1 hour unless otherwise arranged (for example, private or customised sessions).

• This waiver applies to all session types and durations.

Agreement to This Waiver

• By booking and paying for a Mini Learners HK playgroup and submitting your booking confirmation via WhatsApp, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood this Participation Waiver.

  • You agree to the terms outlined above.

  • You accept responsibility for supervising your child and safeguarding their wellbeing during the session.

  • You acknowledge the inherent risks of sensory, physical and exploratory play.
